Whenever I hear this song sadness engulfs me. I was in college and was only 19 years old when Princess Diana died in a car accident on 1997. She was a Princess which spent most of her life helping people, showing care and love to those in need, showing and giving hope to victims of AIDS, war and more. For me she was simply the best Princess that walk over this Earth. She was a candle in the wind that had endured many hardships but tried her best to make her light shone upon many people. She was a person that showed loved to others, hunger for love by her husband Prince Charles but earned the love of the whole world.

Goodbye England's Rose (Candle in the Wind)

Bill Clinton, even has this to say about Diana...

In 1987, when so many still believed that AIDS could be contracted through casual contact, Princess Diana sat on the sickbed of a man with AIDS and held his hand. She showed the world that people with AIDS deserve no isolation, but compassion and kindness. It helped change the world's opinion, and gave hope to people with AIDS.

Princess Diana best emotional tribute ever

On 31 August 1997, Diana died after a high speed car crash in the Pont de l'Alma road tunnel in Paris along with Dodi Al-Fayed and the acting security manager of the Hôtel Ritz Paris, Henri Paul, who was instructed to drive the hired Mercedes-Benz through Paris secretly eluding the paparazzi. Their black 1994 Mercedes-Benz S280 (registration no. 688 LTV 75) crashed into the thirteenth pillar of the tunnel. The two-lane tunnel was built without metal barriers in front of the pillars, so a slight change in vehicle direction could easily result in a head-on collision with a tunnel pillar. None of the four occupants wore seat belts.

During her funeral millions and even billions of people mourned her death and join the procession to lay her to rest. Elton John performed a song which had touched many people. Princess Diana will live forever in the hearts of those whose life she had touched and to those who will continue to share the stories about her.

I never paid much attention to the Royals but I did admire Princess Diana. I will never forget the sight of her boys walking behind her casket in that funeral procession- or that song Candle In the Wind

She is indeed the best Princess the world has ever had. Her fashion for charity and helping others had been very astounding. Like you I did not paid any attention to those things except for Princess Diana.
