One Litre of Tears Advance Review

How would you feel if your child suffers from an incurable disease at a very young age? Perhaps that would be the painful experience of your life and everyday that pass is like a counter towards the death of your child. If you could only have the power to stop time I'm sure you would. Well, this is simply the plot behind the latest series in GMA 7 entitled "One Liter of Tears". 1 rittoru no namida (1リットルの涙, Ichi rittoru no namida?, lit. "1 Litre of Tears"; also called A Diary with Tears or A Diary of Tears) is a Japanese television drama originally produced for Fuji Television about a girl who was diagnosed with an incurable degenerative disease at 15, but was able to continue her life until her death at the age of 25.

The drama is an adaptation of the diary of a Japanese girl named Aya Kitō, who suffered from spinocerebellar ataxia. She began keeping a diary at the suggestion of her doctor, and continued to write until she could no longer hold a pen. The diary, titled 1 rittoru no namida, was published shortly before her death. Although some of the characters and situations are fictionalized in this television version, the dialogue frequently draws directly from Aya Kitô's own words.

Moreover, each episode concludes with a narrated diary excerpt, framed with photographs from various stages in Kitô's life, before and after her diagnosis. The screenplay thus attempts to balance between faithfully working with actual text from the book, 1 rittoru no namida, while also inventing situational contexts so as to portray the struggles of the book's characters in dramatic scenarios. The character Haruto Asô, for example, does not exist in the original diary; however, as a fictional character created for this series, he provides an important mechanism through which Aya's inner feelings, the diary's language on a page, can become more fully actualized as part of a day-to-day narrative.

During its first few days of airing on GMA Channel 7 in the Philippines, I was struck by the fact that this could happen to anyone including my own children and thinking what will I do simply freaks me out. How could a parent endure such suffering and moreover how can the child herself feel and handle this hardship.

A mere idea that was never taught to be possible. That was the general impression given to the World Creative Youth Forum (WCYF) way back 1998 when it was just conceived as a forum for the youth discussing on pease and sustainable development issues.

Eleven years after, the World Creative Youth Forum (WCYF) 2009 had been made possible by the more than 70 delegates and participants around 75% from the Philippines and 25% from other countries together with the hardworking and optimistic organizing committee which never in one minute halted against the many obstacles that could have prevented the event from becoming a success. WCYF 2009 is a symbol of innovation, of sacrifice, of test of values and the question of ideas turning into reality. It was a test of confidence, friendship and trust. WCYF is also a story of high hopes and some delinquencies. What is important is that the hardship and sacrifice of the people behind and within WCYF will not be in vain because it had been such a fruitful, inspiring and worthwhile journey.

Lost Ending Finale Revealed in Season 6

I have just watched Lost Season 5 end today in a breathtaking finale which am sure had everyone gasping in their seats. As the season ends many are anticipating the ending of Lost which will finally be revealed in Season 6. Everyone will surely be talking a lot to Mathew Fox who plays Dr. Jack Shepherd and is the only character who knows the ending of the story. On May 7, 2007, ABC Entertainment President Stephen McPherson announced that Lost will end during the 2009–2010 season with a "highly anticipated and shocking finale." "We felt that this was the only way to give Lost a proper creative conclusion," McPherson said and am sure that it will indeed be the greatest finale on primetime television. Now how do I see Lost Season 5 and what do I have in mind about the upcoming season where here are some insights...

Since the very beginning of Lost TV series it has the minds of its viewers spinning around and trying to look for answers. From the idea that the island is a purgatory to the idea that it was a sort of alternate reality things are getting clearer now. The truth is there is something different and fascinating about the island.

As John Locke returns alive in Season 5 which of course all thinks that it was indeed him but later to be questioned because the other crew found his real body still in the coffin. It seems that the monster had taken the form of John Locke and not Jacob's arch rival. The person who was revealed to be talking with Jacob at the start of the season finale (Episode 16) was in fact Jacob's nemesis. Since Jacob cannot take on the form of another person it is also therefore true that his nemesis cannot do it as well.

It was indeed a fact as well that when "The Monster" appeared to Ben, Locke briefly went out to seek for a rope and only to comeback after all of Ben's ordeal had finished. In that ordeal the monster in the form of his foster daughter, Alex told Ben to follow every order of John Locke or else he will face death. Ben fearing this never questioned him but has doubts on his mind on why he wanted to see and kill Jacob. Ben's anger and presumed unimportance and treatment by Jacob to him was the sole thing which motivated him to kill Jacob.

On another story Jack and the rest had succeeded in detonating the bomb which Faraday think could put everything back to normal. This was after Juliette cause the nuclear bomb to explode after Jack failed in doing so. The question is how will this event in 1977 affect what has transpired in 2007 when Jacob was eventually killed? Will the event of the past affect the event of the future?

In Season 6 I see a more confusing story line only to end into a conclusion which might shock everyone. The show had put off some of the best twists and turns and we should be expecting more of this on the last and final season.

So how will Lost end... well I would not spoil you because of two things. First, I do not have the knowledge of how it will end and secondly, it is better to have watched it than just learned about it.

Now for my rating on Lost Season 5 here it is...

  • STORY: 10 - means the depth of the story and the overall plot.
  • CHARACTERS: 10 - this pertains to the ability of the characters to portray their roles.
  • COHERENCE: 10 - ability of the story to be coherent as the episode progresses.
  • DEPTH: 10 - the effectiveness of the story to relay the full plot and to show the story of each character.
  • MUSIC: 10 - effective use of music in the story.
  • VISUAL EFFECTS: 10 - amount and effectiveness of special effects.
  • POPULARITY: 10 - relative popularity of the story/tv series.
  • RECOMMENDATION: 10 - my recommendation
  • TOTAL RATING: 10

  • It is a highly recommended TV Series which you should never miss. 5 starts and two thumbs up.
