Klaatu, an alien who was sent from another planettries to change human behavior or eventually eradicate them from the Earth because of their negligence and destruction of nature. The movie, "The Day the Earth Stood Still" was very impressive in projecting it's environmental film more than its special effects and overall movie aesthetics.

It's message was simple and direct and that is HUMAN BEHAVIOR TOWARDS NATURE SHOULD CHANGE.

As Fox had a mandate to become a carbon neutral company by 2011, The Day the Earth Stood Still's production had an environmentally friendly regimen. "Whether it was because of this movie thematically or it was an accident of time, there were certain things production-wise we've been doing and been asked to do and so on," said Erwin Stoff. To prevent the wasting of paper, concept art, location stills, and costume tests were posted on a website created by the production for crew members to reference. Costumes were kept for future Fox productions or given to homeless shelters, rather than thrown away. Hybrid vehicles were used and crew members had orders to turn off their car engines if they sat in their vehicles for more than three minutes.

THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL Movie Trailer (Keanu Reeves, Jennifer Connelly)

Good for Fox and for the Earth isn't it. Despite the negative reviews given by the critics which place the movie only a score of 46/100 I will give it two thumbs up for its very relevant message for the current time.

  • Keanu Reeves role as Klaatu and his connection with the two major characters was really an important part of the film. It is with them that he took notice of the fact that human's can change and in reality indeed they can change but it will really took time.

When will that change happen? It is now happening... one person at a time.
