What do you think of having a new avatar on World of Warcraft for therapists who seek to help you with your gaming addiction? Well is that even be possible or would the publishers allow someone to actually curtail these kids from playing? After all the addiction is what made these online games really profitable.

Dr. Richard Graham is spearheading a movement that would let mental health workers to join online game worlds as avatars. The aim of these avatars is to better treat players suffering from game addcition. The avatars will in fact be an unofficial character class.

"Those affected don't exhibit the same outward warning signs as most teenage anti-social behaviour issues do because they're in their bedrooms most of the time, seemingly out of trouble," he told the Telegraph. "Because of this we can't get through to them in the traditional educational environment or intrude on their actual bedrooms -- we need to turn to the Internet itself to tackle these problems."

However, the issue of game addiction itself has issues as well. The American Medical Association still doesn't consider game addiction to be a legitimate disorder, while other reports -- including a Swedish study claiming that Warcraft is "more addictive than crack cocaine" -- say otherwise.

Graham hopes to launch the project "by the end of the year," and has called on Warcraft maker Blizzard to possibly give therapists free access to the game. He also notes that since most therapists probably aren't Warcraft experts, the project could potentially recruit gamers to act as "peer mentors" and help identify troubled players.

Well such a good idea indeed and perhaps it add up to someone who actually cares more about players than the corporation who runs the game themselves. There were also many reports and actual experiences that most gamers if not all tend to become anti-social if they are so immersed into gaming. There were in fact those who are thinking of adding social causes and advocacies into gaming so that they will not only get focused on the game but still inject a sense of need for social participation.

I hope that therapists be allowed really on gaming so that they can really help those who had been addicted to gaming beyond the usual.

So happy gaming everyone and I hope that you don't need a therapist to tell you that you should not bee too much into gaming.

Reminiscing the Best of the 1980's Love Songs

Posted by David D'Angelo | 7/29/2009 01:28:00 AM | , | 0 comments »
ShareThis

It was just mesmerizing to hear and listen to the songs of the 1980s. A decade in which I am in the young years of my life. A decade in which started when I was just 3 years old and ended when I just graduated elementary and I was 13. It was the era when I first fall in love... an era of confusion and an era of challenges. Let this video take you back to the LOVE SONGS OF THE 80s:

Fell in love... and remember the time when you are still young. Days where just very easy and there are no hard problems. You don't have to really exert so much effort because since you are young not too much will be expected of you.

Just love to get back to these times at some time.

Dante's Inferno, A Game of Interest and of Controversy

Posted by David D'Angelo | 7/28/2009 04:05:00 PM | | 0 comments »
ShareThis

The recent controversy about the handling of Electronic Arts of the marketing for Dante's Inferno had both sparked outrage and interest in their next big game title. Dante’s Inferno is based on the 1st book in Dante Alighieri’s trilogy "The Divine Comedy." It is an epic poem about Dante’s travels through the three stages of the afterlife, guided by poet Virgil.

In the first book, The Inferno, Virgil guides Dante through 9 rings of hell. Each ring houses different class of sinners. As you get deeper their crimes get worse. The trailer for the game breifly outlined each of the 9 rings and showed short clips of each ring. It appears as though you will be playing as some sort of crusader that is traveling through the rings.

Sandara Park Rises in Korea: 2NE1 Music Videos

Posted by David D'Angelo | 7/28/2009 02:11:00 AM | , | 0 comments »
ShareThis

Well after we have found out that Sandara Park was not part of the group Wonder Girls we now feature 2NE1. 2NE1 is the group were Sandara Park, the former Filipina actress who teamed up with Hero Angeles. 2NE1's first song was "Lollipop", digitally released on March 27, 2009. The song was created for LG to promote their Cyon phone, and it was a joint release with Big Bang; the commercial/music video debuted on March 28, 2009. "Lollipop" proved to be a strong chart hit, going to #1 on various online charts and topping music television network M.Net's online chart for four weeks in a row.

Their next song "Fire" was released as planned on May 6, with two versions of the music video — a "space" version and a "street" version.

2NE1 - FIRE Music Video (Space Version)

2NE1 - FIRE Music Video (Street Version)

So what happens after that? Well before that let me share you my ratings on this group and although Sandara Park is there I will be totally objective.

VOICE QUALITY : 10
PERFORMANCE : 10
ABILITY TO EVOKE EMOTIONS : 7
POPULARITY : 8
HITMAKER : 9
RECOMMENDATION : 10
TOTAL RATING : 9.00

They are just a very few points above The Wonder Girls for me because of the fact that they can indeed become a hitmaker.

The latest, just this July 1, the group released the title of a song out of their first mini-album called "I Don't Care", online. It is a totally different side and image of 2NE1, since "I Don't Care" is a reggae R&B ballad.

Wonder Girls Showcase Filipina-Korean Sandara Park

Posted by David D'Angelo | 7/28/2009 01:32:00 AM | , | 0 comments »

Sandara Park is definitely flying high in Korea as part of the all female group called 2NE1. Some thought that her group was the very popular Wonder Girls but upon further scrutiny Sandara Park was not part of Wonder Girls. This group is claiming fame and being renowned for their performance and music. However, 2NE1 is also rising in terms of fan base so they are still in competition against the Wonder Girls. Before I set my eyes on Sandara let us first bring you The Wonder Girls.

Well here is a video of the Wonder Girls singing Nobody. Then after this we rate their performance.

VOICE QUALITY : 10
PERFORMANCE : 10
ABILITY TO EVOKE EMOTIONS : 7
POPULARITY : 8
HITMAKER : 8
RECOMMENDATION : 10
TOTAL RATING : 8.83

Well for me they still have to get better and have to surpass the usual all girl group thing. Besides I am not so much of a fun for korean groups although this is the first time I had interest because of Sandara Park's group.

Here are two more videos from the Wonder Girls:

The Original G-Force are NOT GUINEA PIGS

Posted by David D'Angelo | 7/27/2009 11:11:00 AM | , | 0 comments »
ShareThis

Do you know that the real G-Force Team are NOT GUINEA PIGS? Yes, they are not! The original is G-Force: Guardians of Space which started airing 1986. It is the second of three English adaptations of Tatsunoko Production's 1972 Japanese animated television series Science Ninja Team Gatchaman, following Sandy Frank Entertainment's initial 1978 effort Battle of the Planets and preceding ADV Films recent 2005 attempt, known as just Gatchaman. With G-Force, Sandy Frank Entertainment collaborated with Turner Broadcasting to create a newer, more faithful translation of Gatchaman for a new audience, and such a translation was made possible with the relaxed television standards of the 1980s, a luxury that the more Star Wars-themed Battle of the Planets did not enjoy.

"G-Force: Guardians of Space" (1986) - Opening Video

It seems that since the right to this original animation had expired, Disney then came along with its own G-Force which are composed of secret agent guinea pigs. So what does this mean?

Well it means and based on readily available data the original G-Force did not clicked among fans even on its re-runs on Cartoon Network thus making a movie out of it will not profit anyone.

G-Force is about.... as the DVD says:

Five teen-age champions! The evil aliens Galactor and Computor, along with their armies of androids and giant monster machines, want to take over the Earth! Galactor will stop at nothing to complete his goal, but fortunately Earth has G-Force - a team of five youngsters willing to lay down their lives to protect the planet! Join Ace Goodheart, Dirk Daring, Agatha June (Aggie), Pee Wee, and Hoot Owl (Hooty) as they fight to keep the Earth safe!

Nonetheless, it should be known that they are the original G-Force and perhaps with a new and more vibrant way of developing a storyline from this one it might just hit the market.

Here is an interesting video ad from Apple entitled "Think Different." The video ad was shown in 1997. "Heres to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. Theyre not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you cant do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do."

Obviously Mac and Apple was trying to convince people that Apple is thinking differently and was the change maker in the world of computers. A world that is starting to be dominated by Microsoft and its Windows-based personal computers.

The Addictive Farm Town on Facebook Gets Cooler

Posted by David D'Angelo | 7/22/2009 06:54:00 PM | , | 0 comments »
ShareThis

Now Farm Town on Facebook will be more addictive and easier than before. The time consuming plowing the field and planting seeds definitely got better. A que system had been place in which you can indicate all work that you want to do in your farm and your farmer avatar will just work it one at a time. This improvement removes the irritating wait and do system of Farm Town in which before you can do the next move you have to wait for the farmer avatar to finish his current task. Definitely cool ey...

Farm Town is really innovative and way better than its similar Farmville application who basically do the same thing. Currently I am Level 24 in Farm Town. Enjoying this game while doing many things online. The good thing is it becomes a lot easier compared to before.

So if you want to have fun in Facebook then try Farm Town now!

This first one is definitely obvious since the message itself is highly inapplicable and should not be made in the first place.

It was just today that I have learned about Firefox 3.5 and well honestly I thought there is already Firefox 4. Based on what I initially see and experience the first major change is the loading time it takes for a site to load... it is indeed faster. I have also noticed that Firefox changed its website icon and also the add tab icon. Based on the results of a SunSpider test on a Windows XP machine Firefox 3.5 is faster by 2,145 ms compared to Firefox 3 (3,669 ms) and by 16,623 ms to Firefox 2 (18,148 ms). But that's not all!

Why is it faster? Well according to the website Firefox 3.5 includes the TraceMonkey JavaScript engine, which gives the browser dramatically better performance than ever before.

Firerox 3.5 also uses smaller memory and with the XPCOM cycle collector, it continuously cleans up unused memory. Plus, hundreds of memory leaks have been remedied.

The new Firefox also has a Private Browsing option. When this feature is enabled, you won’t leave a single browsing fingerprint behind for others to discover. Cool isn't it specially for those who are sneaking to be online during their work hours... bad example :)

The new update on firefox also introduces two key functionality which will surely amaze everyone.

1. Open Video and Audio. Firefox is the first browser to support open video and audio formats, allowing practically limitless new ways for sites to display rich content. The open formats also allow modern web pages to display media without requiring a plug-in or a proprietary software download.

2. Location-Aware Browsing - Now Firefox can tell websites where you’re located so you can find info that’s more relevant and more useful.

With these new and improved features Firefox is definitely gearing up for an upcoming fierce competition with Google as it also launches its Google Chrome OS in partnership with its Chrome browser.

Well this presumably the funniest video of Michael Jackson's Thriller that I have ever came across. It comes with an English lyrics which I do not know it is actually the lyrics or they are actually Indian words which sounded like English.

Indian Thriller with English Lyrics

I am sure that Michael Jackson will roll over in his grave upon seeing this. Parodies of songs are very prevalent not only in India but in places around the world as well.

I was not so fond of Nuffnang when I first signed up way back December 2008 during the PeaceTech Video Conference at La Salle St. Benilde. It was a new ad network for me and nuffnang virtually has control of the ads that can be placed on your site meaning based on my experience regular sites will never had an ad. Compared to Google I rated Nuffnang mediocre at that time. Then again, I realized, hey this is still an earning opportunity and I am helping a company that invested in the Philippines and Nuffnang is worth trying than bubbling about without actual basis.

Thus, the result I added my blogs to Nuffnang Philippines and installed their code. I am now hoping that my blogs will be qualified to feature ads from companies such as Citibank, Honda, Walls, AirAsia, Nokia, Nike, Nescafe, Twisties, and more.

So what is Nuffnang?

“Nuffnang” is a word in Jafaikan. It means "Real Good/Cool!". The idea of Nuffnang came in late May of 2006, as 2 university students, Timothy Tiah and Cheo Ming Shen sat having a bento box lunch in London. Less than a year later, Nuffnang.com.my was launched on 27th Feb 2007 and within the first 3 days, had signed up 300 bloggers. Nuffnang.com.sg was to follow suit 2 months later on the 30th of April.

As from July 2009, there are over 80,000 bloggers in Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Australia and Nuffnang has received publicity from all corners, having been featured on mainstream newspapers like The Star Malaysia, and The Straits Times Singapore.

So what is my rating for Nuffnang? Well no comment as of this point because I am yet to be serve an ad and to experience Nuffnang.

It was quite annoying that time and time again one of my site will not be browsed because Google will put a site that it is an attack site and that it belongs to a network called "hifgejig.cn/". At first inspection one that I can see is the alteration of index.php files and then a javascript will be inserted. It was quite a long javascript which technically I do not know what it does. However, if it will be on a Joomla site the website will totally be unoperable and an error at line 89 will be displayed. The cure to this is to replace the existing index.php with the original one. So what's happening and how can you protect your website?

At the moment I am still figuring out that myself. One of the fixes which I found on the net is to remove important or sensitive files out of the public_html folder in your server. Another fix is to avoid '777' file permission in files and directories and instead use '755' for folders and executables and '644' for the rest. In fact in some files I even used '444'.

I browsed Google and search for hifgejig.cn/ as keyword and I found several people also affected by the same problem, one of them is a leading Indian institution, Aligarh Muslim University.

Here is an example reason that Google generates on why a site is blocked:

Of the 1316 pages we tested on the site over the past 90 days, 126 page(s) resulted in malicious software being downloaded and installed without user consent. The last time Google visited this site was on 2009-07-11, and the last time suspicious content was found on this site was on 2009-07-11.

Malicious software includes 42 exploit(s), 3 trojan(s), 1 scripting exploit(s). Successful infection resulted in an average of 1 new process(es) on the target machine.

Malicious software is hosted on 19 domain(s), including hifgejig.cn/, hit-senders.cn/, silzefos.cn/.

9 domain(s) appear to be functioning as intermediaries for distributing malware to visitors of this site, including silzefos.cn/, traffics-inspector.cn/, hit-senders.cn/.

This site was hosted on 1 network(s) including AS32181 (ECOMD).

In search of an answer, I found two quite long discussions about this which might help you in solving the problem, "This site may harm your computer" warning from your website's listings in Google search results.

1. How to remove the "This site may harm your computer" warning from your website's listings in Google search results, step by step

2. Site comes back clean, yet listed as 'suspicious'

Showing Discontent Through A Nation's Flag

Posted by David D'Angelo | 7/11/2009 02:36:00 PM | | 0 comments »
ShareThis

The highest form of protest can be seen through the use of one's country flag and this is seen most recently in the United States. This happens when in mid-June, Congine, 46, began flying the flag of the United States upside down — an accepted way to signal distress — outside the restaurant he wants to open in Crivitz, a village of about 1,000 people some 65 miles north of Green Bay. He is apparently protesting for not allowing him to get a liquor license after allegedly spending more than $200,000.

But protests like this is not only happening in the United States. Even in other countries protests can be seen most of the time involving a nation's flag. What is the significance of such a protest anyway?

The flag is regarded as one of the most sacred and important representation of a country. That is why in common protests against the United States a burning of the American Flag is common because it is the greatest symbolism of disgust. A flag flown upside down is also a symbol of distress and of a fighting stand.

In the Philippines during time of protest it is seldom seen however, an inverted Philippine flag showing the red on top might not always signify war but also an upholding of the basic tenet of the country and a protest against the state and the government.

The significance of one's flag as a symbol of discontent is very relevant and is in fact part of the freedom of expression... at least it is within the Constitution of the United States.

Although, personally, I would not recommend using one's own flag to signify your protest to yur country unless it is so important and necessary.

Robin Padilla Ruins Totoy Bato GMA 7 Series

Posted by David D'Angelo | 7/10/2009 02:19:00 AM | , | 0 comments »
ShareThis

Robin Padilla and his simple disregard of the story of Totoy Bato and fellow members of the staff and team of the tv series ruined the show in entirety. This is my concrete view when I watched the last few weeks of Totoy Bato as it turned into from boxing to fantasy and wonder where is this story going. The continues marauding and self righteousness of Robin Padilla alienated him from the rest of the staff of the show including its own director. It can be seen that Robin had been overboard and as the staff says he had been a self proclaimed star with no real value.

Because of this controversy it is seen that Robin Padilla might go to the rival ABS-CBN channel. He seems to have shown his true colors and bad attitude in things like this.

  • STORY: 2 - means the depth of the story and the overall plot.
  • CHARACTERS: 2 - this pertains to the ability of the characters to portray their roles.
  • COHERENCE: 1 - ability of the story to be coherent as the episode progresses.
  • DEPTH: 2 - the effectiveness of the story to relay the full plot and to show the story of each character.
  • MUSIC: 2 - effective use of music in the story.
  • VISUAL EFFECTS: 5 - amount and effectiveness of special effects.
  • POPULARITY: 5 - relative popularity of the story/tv series.
  • RECOMMENDATION: 1 - my recommendation
  • TOTAL RATING: 2.5

  • Totoy Bato might be the worst ever series in GMA Channel 7 which I have watched. It is a series in which you would definitely ask yourself if this is really a GMA 7 show. How come that an action story like Totoy Bato become suddenly a fantasy. Only a fool could have made this decision. Robin Padilla even allegedly remove Manny Pacquiao from the show. Well, if I am Manny I would not associate myself with a show. I also wonder what Carlo Caparras, the creator of Totoy Bato would be saying on what he did to the plot of the story.

Now Totoy Bato is over the air and the fans will forever contemplate the metamorphosis that their favorite character and story had undergone and that is thanks to Robin Padilla.

The book "I Believe" which contains the thoughts, inspirations and quotes of the Most Rev. Desmond Tutu provides the deepest insight on the humanity of man. It also goes deeper into Tutu's concept of Ubuntu or the greatest good in a person. Upon reading this book I really become more encourage and inspired to continue in the fight of life most especially on his thought that we should always see the good in a person no matter how bad that person is. "If I Diminish You, I Diminish Myself," truly it is the truth for we are all part of a society that makes our every move intertwined. This is a book in which I have Bigan Jackie Romorosa to thank for giving it to me as a gift.

The life of Desmond Tutu had been a struggle for the realization of great things. It involves him taking great courage in times of the greatest darkness during the time of apartheid in South Africa. He was frequently misunderstood and hated by both the oppressors and the oppressed. His own followers doubted and threaten him but in the end they realize that they will never be complete nor will their struggle be successful without him.

  • STYLE: 10 - the writing style of the author.
  • COHERENCE: 10 - books coherence and ability to deliver its message.
  • DEPTH: 10 - the depth of discussion in the book and its story.
  • EFFECTIVENESS: 10 - effectiveness of the book to deliver the message and evoke action
  • CONTENT: 10 - quality of the content of the book
  • POPULARITY: 10 - relative popularity of the book.
  • RECOMMENDATION: 10 - my recommendation
  • TOTAL RATING: 10.00

  • The author concentrated on the quotes of Desmond Tutu after having a detailed biography of the Noble Peace Price Winner. The pages of the book was not fulled by text but by simple images and quotes in varying text sizes. The styling will surely capture ones imagination and attention.

I Believe touches the readers heart and humanity with the effectiveness of its varying text sizes and layout style. The stress of the message in each of the page of the book makes it an effective medium for conveying the character and significance of Tutu in this world and in the struggle for South Africa.

Tutu was the first black South African Anglican Archbishop of Cape Town, South Africa, and primate of the Church of the Province of Southern Africa (now the Anglican Church of Southern Africa). Also, he chaired Truth and Reconciliation Commission and is currently the chairman of The Elders. He is vocal in his defence of human rights and uses his high profile to campaign for the oppressed. Tutu also campaigns to fight AIDS, homophobia, poverty and racism. He received the Nobel Peace Prize in 1984, the Albert Schweitzer Prize for Humanitarianism, and the Gandhi Peace Prize in 2005.
