It seems that almost all students are being asked to make a reaction on the Inaugural Speech of President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III. Am sure that many of these students did not even watch the live coverage of the Inaugural since they are busy with other things. As for me, well I did research, read the transcript, watch the video about it and then made my reactions.

It was not a typical speech by past Philippine presidents. The usual speech takes around 30 to 60 minutes to deliver and the people get so bored listening to it. The speech of President Noynoy Aquino lasted a total of 20 minutes although the original plan is for it to take around 8-10 minutes just like that of President Magsaysay.

The content of the speech started with acknowledging the guests present at the Inaugural and then saying that "he had never imagined himself being a President." That is true since Noynoy Aquino is not really planning to run for the presidency. Well not until most of the people force him to run after her mother died. Noynoy Aquiono, in fact stressed that it was the people who gave him that opportunity and thus the people who elected him and every Filipino should help him.

He wants each Filipino to share the burden of uplifting the country. He said that he cannot do it alone and indeed he cannot do it alone as other president failed miserably in doing so. He show political will by indirectly saying that change needs to start from himself and from simple things.

When President Aquino says, "no wangwang" and "no counterflow" it does not only mean the term literally because it means we need to respect simple things so that other things will be respected. He wants to lead by example and to be a better leader for the Philippines.

President Noynoy Aquino in his speech stressed the need for a better education, the need for justice to be served equally and timely and the need to eradicate corruption so that the Philippines will finally earn the respect and place in the family of nations that it have sought for so long.

He also told everyone that while he had forgiven those which have committed sins against him, he has no power to forgive those who have sinned against the country and its people. This only means that those who have committed crimes against the Filipino people should be brought to justice and they should pay for what they did. That is in fact the main reason why he selected former Chief Justice Hilario Davide to lead the Truth Commission.

President Aquino said that he will never fail his parents for they have done so much for their country and he will continue to preserve and nurture what they have started.

In the end if there is one thing that is clear, this is the first President to really say that he cannot do it alone and admits the weakness of himself. So therefore as a student and as a Filipino citizen it is about time that we unite and help our country to become better.

Congratulations to our new president, President Bengingo "Noynoy" Aquino III!
